MANILA, Philippines—As Kpop becomes more global especially during this pandemic, many idols have already gone into the digital space to host concerts such as BTS’ Map of the Soul ON:E, TWICE’s World In A Day, IZ*ONE’s Oneiric Theatre, even the KCON:TACT Summer 2020 which featured performances from various groups and gathered fan participation worldwide.
Last week was incredibly intense as big groups were out there making headlines – like Super Junior – K.R.Y. , SEVENTEEN breaking their personal record with over a million copies of pre-order for their upcoming album, TWICE reached their 100th music show win, another hundred million views for Red Velvet, and BLACKPINK teasing everyone for their upcoming comeback and a reality show!
The week started with the long-awaited return of Super Junior-K.R.Y. The sub-unit released their mini album along with the music video for the title track of the same name. The vocal line sub-unit sang a ballad about reminiscing their memories of their loved ones. The heartfelt song expresses so much longing that can drive anyone to look back on their beautiful past. BTS carpool in “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was indeed one of the iconic appearance of the group that has already reached 38.8 million views on YouTube. However, the fun ride does not stop there as James Corden dropped a bonus clip for the Carpool Karaoke segment. Corden himself gifted the ARMY for their incredible job after matching BTS’ $1 million to the Black Lives Matter movement and more. Check out the clip below!
Meanwhile, Red Velvet has made another achievement in YouTube. Their music video for “Power Up'” surpassed 100 million views! This is also their 8th MV to reach that number of views along side with “Psycho,” “Ice Cream Cake,” “Red Flavor,” “Peek-A-Boo,” “Bad Boy,” “Dumb Dumb,” and “Russian Roulette.”
SEVENTEEN just dropped a pre-release music video, “My My,” for their upcoming comeback on June 22 with their seventh mini album “Heng:garae.” The album had officially surpassed one million of pre-orders breaking their own personal record 700,000 with previous album “An Ode.” As for now, check out “My My” below while waiting for the D-day.
Last week, TWICE just achieved their 100th win in music shows! The group won the first place on Music Bank” for their latest comeback “MORE & MORE.” The won that they got made it their 100 win since their debut in 2015. Also, TWICE is the second girl group to reach this milestone. As their comeback is setting records in sales and even the music video has reached a hundred million views, the girls expressed so much gratitude to their fans. Following the 100th music show win, they thanked their fans on their official Twitter account.
Ahead on their upcoming comeback this month, BLACKPINK surprised everybody with their teaser of their upcoming reality show “24/365 with BLACKPINK.” In the video the girls gathered to have a conversations about their updates in their lives and of course a little hint for their new song. In a busy life, someone tries for a dream, or sometimes gets energy from it. Moon Sungwook and Lim Jaehyun just released the song “Night(밤)”, a song that is a dream of everyone; a dream “like the starlight in the cloudy sky” and “like the warmth of the hidden dawn”.
GOT7’s Youngjae, in collaboration with Choi Jung-yoon, just launched a strong “support shooting” for his co-member GOT7 Park Jin-young, who is performing enthusiastically on tvN’s new Saturday drama “When My Love Blooms”. “Fall in Love(빠져드나봐)” is a medium tempo song with a bright atmosphere that expresses the feelings that the two main characters are gradually falling in love with each other after their first encounter, adding acoustic guitar and mellow EP sound.
Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation presents a special gift to her fans! The new song “Happy” is an R&B pop genre song that reinterprets old school doo-wop and R&B with modern sound, and the lyrics that contain warm, cozy excitement and happiness felt in the time spent with loved ones are impressive.
ASTRO just returned with their seventh mini album “GATEWAY”! The released title track, “Knock ( 널 찾아가)” is a “Chain Pop”-based song that starts with a refreshing piano and guitar riff and combines rhythmical drums to revive its intensity. The new album also contains Astro’s will to show another world by becoming a guide for wandering youths.
Back again in just exactly after a month releasing his single “Why Do U Say”, WAYCHED released his second EP album “2MONTHS” with the title track “Balance” and it’s a total bop! Looking from the song lyrics, it is a song telling an ex-lover to stop and that it’s already too much.
IU and Suga of BTS attracted the ears with a balanced blend of unique personalities as they have released the newest digital single “Eight”, a band-based pop rock with a blend of analog sensibility and trendy sound. Unlike those previous delicate and emotional IU vocals, “Eight” adds a sense of refreshment with more direct singing and addictive melodies, allowing listeners to fall more into the song itself.
BOL4 Ahn Ji-young and EXO Baekhyun, two artists of unrivaled tone met to create the warmest and most emotional duet song this spring. It digested the unique affectionate and lovely sensibility of the lyrics of “Leo(나비와 고양이)” in a refreshing and soft tone. It is a new style duet song that BOL4 tries for the first time, with the jazz piano and string ensemble of the chorus creating a mysterious atmosphere, with the highlight of the song being played by the Martian instruments.
SM Entertainment’s EDM label ScreaM Records will carry out the iScreaM project, which will select one of the title songs released by SM every month and present it in a remix version, and is expected to draw attention by releasing NCT 127’s “Hero (Kick It)” remix song for the first time.
