PKCI first met Star Hunt Academy Boy Trainees, now the upcoming group BGYO, last August 2020 as one of the special guests for Happy Hallyu Day 4: A Virtual Party where they performed their powerful dance K-pop covers of Seventeen’s “Let Me Hear You Say”, Exo’s “Tempo”, BTS’s ”On”, and Filipino singer KZ Tandingan KZ Tandingan’s “Raise Your Flag”.

Composed of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate – the five talented boys are set to take the P-pop scene on a great surge. Here are 5 “signals” why BGYO is a group worthy to check out.
SIGNAL # 1
2020 gave everyone an unexpected 360-turn in life but these guys pursued their passion even through the worldwide pandemic and the unfortunate shutdown of their TV network. They were away from their families for more than half a year and had a busy schedule of training, online classes, content productions, and other personality development activities. Those weren’t an easy fit for anyone their age but that’s pure dedication, discipline, and deep trust in the process of pursuing their dreams.
SIGNAL #2
They have the right mix of guidance from their Filipino and Korean coaches. Imagine the combination of talented Filipino performers and the strong K-pop idol training system? These boys were polished and given the opportunity to hone their skills under MU Doctor (South Korea) vocal and dance professionals who have helped launched successful Korean idols, and Filipino coaches like Mickey Perz, Adam Alonzo, Kitchy Molina, and the rest of the team who help pushed their abilities to the next level.
If you’ve followed their journey through their training days, you will surely see their undeniable strong growth as individuals and as a group. No doubt, they just kept getting better and better.
SIGNAL #3
It’s more than just improvement during their trainee days but they’ve also shown innovations when it comes to their performances. Their live take on Sarah G’s hits “Tala and Kilometro” made a buzz and speaks a lot of the kind of training they’ve been receiving. They’ve also received praises from local icons like Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano.

SIGNAL #4
Working with the right people in the industry and having a strong internal support system creates a better foundation for the artists. Aside from their Star Hunt Academy team led by Director Laurenti Dyogi, they’ve also worked with formidable icons in the fashion and entertainment industry.
Hallyu content creator, host, director/producer, and one of PKCI’s founding member, Ms. Kring Kim, has also been working with BGYO and the management. She also directed their debut music video set to premiere this January 29, 2021.
SIGNAL #5
Their debut song “The Light” is BGYO’s anthem for today’s generation as it speaks about empowerment, hope, and self-love. It is a powerful, genre-bending track that infuses urban, electronic, and R&B, and seasoned Korean choreographers from LAY BACK who worked with k-pop acts like SuperM, Hyolyn, and Zico are responsible for the routine of their debut song. BGYO also penned the Filipino lyrics to reflect their own story in the song.
“The Light” will be available for streaming on over 30 digital stores globally including Korean digital streaming platforms. Get to know more about BGYO at their official media and fan conference on January 29, 2021 at 6:00 PM via ktx.ph. The world premiere of their single and MV follows at 8:00 PM.
