[PRESS RELEASE] May is all about Korean Family Month and all-out fun bonding activities

by Philippine KPOP Convention May 4, 2021
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Staying at home may have taken a different meaning these days, but Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines remains keen on its commitment to making it more enjoyable and informative for the Filipinos!

Love for family is a cultural aspect that both Koreans and Filipinos share. This May, just in time for Family Month in Korea, KCC made sure to pack activities for the K-film lover, K-Drama crazy, K-Pop stan and the K-Culture fan family member.

Kicking off May is KCC’s signature film event  “2021 Korean Film Festival: Full House, Fun for All.” Loaded with seven films under the  Action, Comedy, and Family Drama genre, the festival will be available for viewing in the Philippines for free via KCC’s official website (http://phil.korean-culture.org/en)  from May 7 to May 27, 2021. Viewers can also get the chance to win prizes by joining the 2021 KFF Online Film Reaction Essay Contest and the KFF Survey.

Meanwhile, K-Drama crazy individuals must watch out for something that KCC is pioneering this May, the shorterview series titled “Along With K-Culture: Meet the K-Stans.” Shorterview is a combination of words, short and interview, which is an increasingly popular format in Korea’s online shows and vlogs. In this six-part series, which will drop every 10th of the month starting this May, viewers can expect a different approach into celebrating KCC’s 10th year anniversary in the country. Its episodes would tackle elements of K-Culture and assess its impact locally through the lens of experts and keynote speakers from various industries and institutions.

For those who have been excited to get movin’ and dancin’ to K-Pop songs, now’s the time to ready those dancing shoes because K-Pop Dance Diva Dasuri Choi will be putting on her teacher hat anew. Finally, the “K-Dance Clinic” is taking place this May 19. Catch the free live stream of Dasuri’s dance tutorial with the lucky participants who have joined “K-Dance! Power Up” event last month on KCC ‘s official YouTube Channel.

Finally, KCC will also be going back to the basics this May through its Traditional Thursday. For this month, KCC”s SNS followers will learn more about Korean Customs including the concept of Courtesy, Warm Affection, Community and Fun. These online contents would surely get the audience more immersed in the Korean culture and would probably be able to apply a thing or two in their own lives.

KCC has laid down a bunch of interesting activities this month for everyone to choose from. But why choose when you can watch and participate in all? Expect some sweat, traditions, adrenaline rush but a lot of fun, from all of KCC’s events and activities this May!

[PRESS RELEASE] KCC to bring Korea’s famed Kimchi into Filipino houses this April

by Philippine KPOP Convention April 5, 2021
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Apart from K-Pop, nothing resonates with Korea more than Kimchi. This Korean national dish has captivated the taste buds of the Filipinos and other nationalities all over the globe, as it became paired with grilled dishes, noodles, soups, and it evolved into various forms such as powdered flavoring, dumplings, instant noodles, and a lot more.

This April, Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines joins the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts in celebrating the Filipino Food Month with a special event that brings together local and Korean food.

This month, Hansik lovers will definitely have an excuse to put up a feast for the My Kimchi Recipe Challenge. Avid kimchi fans can now raid their kitchen and whip their own Filipino food fusion recipes with Kimchi as an important ingredient. In order to qualify, participants must do the following: 1. Upload the photo of the completed dish on Facebook, 2. Use the hashtag #MyKimchiRecipe and #KolorfulAdventures 3. Tag two friends and, 4. Put the ingredients and directions of their dish on the description/caption of the image. KCC will be picking five lucky winners with the most creative dishes to win K-Food meal sets for two to enjoy at home!

Highlighting everybody’s beloved Kimchi won’t stop there! Kimchi lovers would also learn something new with “Traditional Thursday x Kimchi.” The four-part series which will be released on KCC’s social networking accounts every Thursday this April will be discussing its history, various kinds, health benefits, and regional representations. Expect a thorough kimchi education this April from KCC!

In an effort to continue finding ways to bring Korea closer to those at home during these tough times, KCC has teamed up with the Jeju National Museum to showcase a three-part feature titled “The Story of Jeju.” This video series is perfect for those who have long been curious about the majestic Jeju Island, as well as, the kids and the family, who have been limited in traveling due to the quarantine regulations. These videos would put the island’s history and the famous areas that can be found in it in the spotlight. Think Jeju Island virtual tour on KCC’s YouTube Channel! The “Story of Jeju” series would be available every Sunday on KCC’s YouTube account.

Not only that, before April closes, one grand winner of P40,000 in cash would also be selected by KCC for its first-ever, Kreation: KCC PH’s 10th Anniversary Logo-Making Contest.

Good food and a whole lot of fun while learning await the supporters of K-Culture and the followers of KCC this April!

[PRESS RELEASE] KCC TO GIVE AWAY P40K CASH, MOUNT K-DANCE CLINIC FOR FREE THIS MARCH

by Philippine KPOP Convention March 16, 2021
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

The kolorful and jam-packed year-long celebration of Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines’ 10th year anniversary finally kicks off this March. What better way to start the happenings than with traditional informative content, thrilling contests, and huge prizes that would allow any K-Culture enthusiasts to tap on their imagination, hone their creativity, and have fun despite the continuous onslaught of the COVID-19 and its new variants.

K-Pop Dancing Diva Dasuri Choi is once again taking on the KCC’s dancing stage  as part of “K-Dance Power Up!” This leveled up online dance tutorial will feature the most-requested songs on KCC’s SNS namely: EXO’s powerful  “Obsession,” Twice’s megahit “I Can’t Stop Me,” and IU’s newly-released dance single, “Celebrity.” Aside from getting the chance to learn the said K-pop songs’ moves and grooves at home together with friends and family, randomly selected participants can also get the chance to participate in the exclusive online dance clinic facilitated by Dasuri herself. Those who wouldn’t be as lucky, however, would still have the chance to participate in the K-Dance Power Up! Quiz wherein they would be expected to answer specific questions correctly in order to receive special KCC prizes.

With the goal of allowing the Filipinos to take an active part in the 10th-anniversary celebration, KCC has launched its first-ever logo-making contest. Aptly titled, “Kreation: KCC PH’s 10th Anniversary Logo-making Contest,” is an online event by the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines that aims to serve as a platform for Filipino to showcase their creativity and their love for K-Culture and KCC through an artwork.

The participants would be working on the theme “10 years of KCC” in creating the logo, while the entries would be judged by four esteemed judges representing Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc, UP Korea Research Center, and iAcademy. The winner would not only take home a whopping P40,000 in cash, but his work would also have the rare opportunity of serving as KCC’s official 10th-year anniversary logo, which would be incorporated in all promotional and event materials related to the anniversary and to the anniversary video that is slated to be released in July.

Meanwhile, part and parcel of KCC’s Kolorful Adventures this year is to bring traditional Korean culture to the forefront for the new generation to appreciate and learn from. With the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions still limiting the citizens’ movements, KCC will once again take leaps and bounds in order to bring Korean culture into the homes of its supporters. The spotlight will be on Korean Martial Arts this entire March on KCC’s social media accounts, as the center would be sharing notable history, basic tutorials, unknown facts, and doable techniques for those who have been wanting to learn about Taekwondo, Ssireum, and Taekkyon at home.

KCC is just getting started, as the events and activities are only expected to get bigger and better in the months to come amid the current situation in the country.
