Running Man in Manila is worth the “run”

by Philippine KPOP Convention April 12, 2023
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Since its debut in 2010, the Korean variety show “Running Man” has been a hit with viewers all over the world. The show’s mix of physical challenges, comedy, and competition has made it a favorite among fans of all ages.

After its postponement in 2020, the Running Man cast finally came to Manila for a night full of entertainment last April 1, 2023 at the Mall of Asia Arena, organized by Pulp Live World. Filipino “Runners”, the fans of the show, got the chance to see Jee Seok Jin, Yu Jae Seok, Kim Jong Kook, Yang Se Chan, HaHa, Song Ji Hyo, and Jeon So Min showcased their talents, as they celebrate a decade (and a three!) of laughter.

They started their fanmeet with their version of BTOB’s “Missing You” that touched the hearts of all present in the venue. The three years of waiting were not in vain because the members were really all-out to perform for their fans – Seok Jin sung “Ikaw” by Yeng and a bit of “Anak”, a Filipino classic; Jihyo and Somin performed IVE’s “Love Dive”; Jungkook serenaded with Adele’s “Easy on Me”; Sechan showed some swag with Zico’s “New Thing” together with Haha, Jongkook and Jaesuk; Haha lit up the stage with his crew’s “Dang Diggi Bang”; Somin and Sechan singing to one of our favorite Kdrama soundtrack, “All for You”, group stages that made the fans all hype, especially with “Lovable” that made us reminisce a lot from their old episodes, and the rest is history. Running Man in Manila felt like a once in a lifetime experience, but we all hope they will return, as we celebrate more of their years together.

Just as what the heartfelt video from the fans showed “We will keep on running with you” – Runners will continue their love and support for not just the TV show, but the members themselves, as they made our days lighter, with laughter.

KVERSE: Get To Know The Performers

by Philippine KPOP Convention April 9, 2023
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

We can all agree that K-pop is now a universe – a sphere of activity, interest, or experience, where we can consider the idols as the stars and the diverse fans as the galaxies.

To promote the spirit of being together in support of each fandom in this universe, makeitlive created K-verse. A stellar night where renowned K-Pop acts TAEYEON, THE BOYZ, and aespa will mesmerize us with their music and performances happening on April 11, 2023 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Get to know the artists who will give us the time of our lives as we step into #KVersePH this coming Tuesday:

✨ Aespa, stylized as æspa or aespa, is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. They debuted on November 17, 2020, with members, Karina, Ningning, Winter and Giselle, for the digital single, Black Mamba.

The group’s name, Aespa, combines the English initials of “avatar” and “experience” (Avatar X Experience) with the English word “aspect”, meaning “two sides”, to symbolize the idea of “meeting another self and experiencing the new world”.

Even they’re currently on tour with “SYNK: Hyper Line” and gearing for their comeback in May, aespa is ready to make our “Dreams Come True” at K-verse.

✨ THE BOYZ, that may be stylized with initials, TBZ, debuted on December 6, 2017 under Cre.Ker Entertainment. This supersized group consists of Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Juhaknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric, is now under IST Entertainment after their company merged with PlayM Entertainment. They are known for their dramatic performances and vibrant dance music that made them reached No. 3 on South Korea’s Gaon chart with their 2017 debut EP, The First, and won the TV competition show Road to Kingdom, earning a spot in the follow-up series, Kingdom. Closely after their TV triumph, they released the EP Chase, that has “The Stealer” as their title track and continues their cinematic path with their latest album, “Be Awake” led by the sultry “ROAR”.

These boys will certainly keep our senses “awake” once they hit the K-verse stage.

✨ TAEYEON, the Girls’ Generation member who has established a solo career with her voice, strong charisma and ethereal presence is ready to show how experienced she is, with her roots being traced back to 2004 when she became the leader of her group under SM Entertainment and eventually getting their debut on 2007.

As a soloist, she serves with strident pop-rock that showed her vocal chops without compromising the range she is known for. In 2015, she released her debut solo EP, I, and she followed that up with more music like her sparky hit single “Four Seasons.” This year, she is preparing to release her new music and go on tour.

You’ll definitely have a one “fine” night once you hear Taeyeon’s voice, live!

Don’t miss to be a part of #KversePH this April 11th!

Tickets are still available at https://www.ticketnet.com.ph/events/detail/K-Verse whether you are a fan of the artists or not, this is going to be one for the books!

Binge watch these must see Running Man episodes!

by Philippine KPOP Convention March 31, 2023
written by Philippine KPOP Convention
The long wait is finally over! The cast of Running Man Korea is holding their 10th year anniversary fan meeting, “A Decade of Laughter”, in the Philippines on April 1, 2023 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena after being pushed back since 2020 because of the pandemic. On February 23, PULP officially announced the new date for the fan meet as well as its ticket prices. If you’re a new runner, here are some episodes that you should binge watch. Side note, this will really contain spoilers!
Episode 38: The Birth of Yoo-mes Bond
Hailing from the original name “James Bond”, Yoo Jae Suk makes his persona as “Yoo-mes Bond” in this episode. As the other members do their best to solve all missions handed before them, Yoo Jae Suk tries to create chaos during their games and secretly eliminate them by squirting ink on their name tags. This episode is truly a must watch as this marked the beginning of spy missions for Running Man.
Episode 74: Best Running Man Competition (#2): Super Power Edition
If you are a fan of science fiction, well, this episode is for you. Accompanied by their different powers, the members battled out the title of “Best Running Man #2” in this episode. The episode provided laughter as their true personalities was shown with how they maximized their said powers.
Episode 178: Year End Special
In this episode, the first battle between the members and the production crew commenced as they decide on what penalties should be done for the following year. The cast are to earn Running Balls for every mission that they successfully win while the staff will earn theirs once the members are not able to accomplish the mission. Spoiler alert: the production staff won but they received the water bombing punishment for this episode!
Episode 378-379: Tiger Butterfly Tour
As the variety show gained more traction from the viewers, they decided to go on a much larger scale by taking their penalties internationally! In this two part episode, the members are divided into two groups with one team going to Australia while the other in New Zealand to explore the extreme activities waiting for them.
Pilot Episode
And of course, the pilot episode is a must watch because this will give you a better understanding of how the 12-year variety show started. Locked in a mall after closing hours, the members were set to find hidden codes that were needed to unlock the gates as they should escape before the opening hours. While the winning team was able to escape, the losing team stayed behind to execute their punishment.
Running Man is a variety show which first aired on July 11, 2010, under SBS’s Good Sunday lineup and it is one of the longest running variety programs with over 600 episodes to date.
RUNNING MAN IN MANILA

Don’t forget to catch all the cast members as they tour the Philippines for their “Decade of Laughter” Fanmeeting.

Happening on April 1st, 2023 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena!
