Kim Jaejoong is coming back to Manila after almost 6 years!

written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Fellow Boss Babies & Cassiopeias, the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here. We definitely wont miss out on watching one of the best vocalists and the all time best performer, Kim Jaejoong.

Let’s take a look at Jaejoong’s career path starting rom being part of one of the most decorated Kpop acts in history to becoming a founder of his own label.

Debut with TVXQ

In 2003, he debuted with TVXQ alongside Yunho, Junsu, Yoochun & Changmin. They immediately swept the Korean charts and became one of the pioneers of Hallyu Wave in the world ans winning all of South Korea’s major music awards in the process. Their achievements grew even more as the also debuted in Japan and became one of the first Korean acts to break out in the Japanese Market.

Formation of JYJ

After a tumultuous legal battle with SM Entertainment, Junsu and Yoochun alongside Jaejoong united once again to form JYJ in the year 2010 and they didn’t falter as all their album releases still rose to the no. 1 spot.

Solo activities and formation of iNKODE

Being one of the best vocals in Kpop, he also had a chance to promote his solo tracks while simultaneously promoting with his group. Eventually Jaejoong became a full time soloist after the hiatus of JYJ. Also during this period, he established iNKODE alongside Noh Hyun-tae, the former vice president of Cube Entertainment, and focused more on his solo activities.

Jaejoong is coming back to Manila after almost 6 years. Get ready to catch him perform hits from various stages of his career as he performs a full concert at in Manila, happening on July 28, 2023 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Tickets are available via SM Tickets

Diversity in Be You 3

by Philippine KPOP Convention July 22, 2023
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Have you ever imagined a show with 2nd to 4th generation K-pop idols with OPM artists? If you did, then it’s becoming real soon, because APink, Nam Woo-hyun of Infinite, and Lee Minhyuk aka HUTA of BTOB, and CIX, along with OPM icons, Nobita Band, Jhong Hilario, Vhong Navarro, and Ice Seguerra, will captivate audiences from various interests, at the Big Dome.

Let’s be familiar about the K-pop artists that headlines the show this coming Sunday:

APink last visited the country in 2016 for the MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016 held at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds. Pink Pandas are elated to see Yoon Bo-mi, Kim Nam-joo, Park Cho-rong, Jeong Eun-ji, and Oh Ha-young once again and we can’t wait to see them perform the title track of their 10th Mini Album [SELF], D.N.D.

They are best known for their hit songs My My, Mr. Chu, No No No, and Luv, among others, but their debut song back in 2011 is one that you should know.

Nam Woohyun of Infinite, have just visited Manila last May 13 for the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 (MUPH) held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It’s an honor to have him back in our country again, in between his preparations for the most anticipated return of his group, INFINITE, that delighted their fans by announcing their comeback date, July 31st and an Asia tour beginning in Seoul on August 19 and 20 at the KSPO Dome.

In 2016, he started his solo career with his EP titled Write.., followed by Second Write.. (2018), A New Journey (2019) and With (2021). The vocalist also released a solo digital single “A Song For You”, which he performed in his Solo Concert, “Arbor Day” in 2018.

Woohyun debuted as an INFINITE member in 2010 with the title track, “Come Back Again” from their first EP, First Invasion.

Lee Minhyuk visited Manila and performed at SUPER POPCON with his group, BTOB, along with other 3rd generation groups, VIXX, B1A4, B.A.P and PENTAGON last July 2017. This is the first time he will grace the stage as the solo artist, HUTA, who has been active as an underground music artist prior to debuting in BtoB in 2012. His solo Korean debut in the mainstream scene was announced in January 2019 with an self-composed album, Hutazone, followed by his first solo concert, Hutazone: Two Night in February 2019. On November 5, 2021, Lee released the digital single “Good Night” then his second studio album, Boom with the title track of the same title in 2022.

His group, BTOB, first showcased their powerful vocals with their debut single, INSANE.

CIX (pronounced as C-I-X), is finally meeting their Filipino FIX! It’s the group’s first time in the Philippines, but it’s the fifth for one of the members, Bae Jinyoung, who last performed at the Mall of Asia Arena during the manila leg of Wanna One World Tour – One: The World in 2018 and his solo fanmeet, IM YOUNG in 2019. Some YG fans may be familiar with Lee Byounggon (BX) and Kim Seunghun (SEUNGHUN) as part of the Silver Boys crew and YG Treasure Box survival show, but they are now part of the quintet as leader/main rapper and vocalist, respectively. The group’s name came from an English acronym of “Complete in X”, means that it is completed only when all 5 unknown members come together, and it implies the meaning of ‘completion of unknown numbers’. On May 29, 2023, their sixth EP OK Episode 2: I’m OK was released with the title track, “Save Me, Kill Me”.

CIX is a K-pop group formed by C9 Entertainment in 2019, consisting of BX, Seunghun, Bae Jin-young, Yonghee and Hyunsuk. The group debuted on July 23, 2019, with their first EP titled Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger with the lead track, “Movie Star”.

The sensational performances of the K-pop artists will follow the dedicated sets of each local artists – Jhong Hilario, Vhong Navarro, Ice Seguerra, and Nobita.

Be You 3: The World Will Smile advocates the spirit of unity and strengthens inclusivity, celebrating the indomitable spirit of the cleft lip and palate community.

Tickets are still available at Ticketnet

YURI wrote another chapter of her life in Manila

by Philippine KPOP Convention July 20, 2023
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Even the heaving downpour won’t stop PH SONEs from flocking the New Frontier Theater last Sunday, July 9, 2023 for Yuri’s 2nd fanmeeting <Chapter 2>

The night kicked off with ‘Into You’, her single from her debut EP. She then went on with her fanmeeting segment show where she teased fans about her upcoming YouTube content which will also feature the Philippines. She also talked about her various TV roles and shared some more interesting details on each one of it.

After some fanmeeting segments, she proceeded to wow fans with her performance of “1,2 Step”, a song by Ciara, which is also a throwback from the momentous “Into the New World” Asia Tour way back 2010.

She then shared some exclusive photos to PH SONEs and asked them for hashtags using the realtime chat that was only available for the show’s audiences. She then went on to play various challenges. She unfortunately lost but the fans were not disappointed as she had to do a TikTok challenge while wearing a funny hat.

Yuri also performed Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG’s “Lil’ Touch” and Hyoyeon’s “Dessert” to the delight of many.

After all of her fanmeeting segments, she thanked all SONEs for being a part of one the greatest chapters in her life.

For her encore, Yuri sang “Butterfly”, another single from her debut EP, and ended the show with Girls’ Generations’ hit “Gee” to send the crowd home with a happy and nostalgic feeling.

It truly was a show that was years in the making for PH SONEs and we are happy to be part of it.
