XIUMIN to hold a solo fan concert on May 10

by Philippine KPOP Convention April 5, 2025
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

EXO-L, gather ‘round because the OG fairy is here! With his charming smile, enchanting voice, and magnetic charisma, XIUMIN is ready to steal the spotlight once again! He’s back and ready to make history with his first-ever fan concert, XIUMIN FAN CONCERT < X Times ( ) > in MANILA, happening on May 10, 2025, at the New Frontier Theater!

Multifaceted? A jack-of-all-trades? Just say XIUMIN when you mean a man of many skills. Since EXO’s debut in 2012, he has shone as the group’s lead singer, lead dancer, and sub-rapper. To his fellow EXO members, he is the good-natured, protective, and funny hyung– a brother who’s always ready with his witty remarks or playful pranks. But XIUMIN knows no bounds. He has broadened his horizons by delving into acting and musical theater, and he also excels in various sports, even becoming an ambassador for one. Truly, he embodies the essence of versatility.

Reflecting on XIUMIN’s journey to fame, it was clear from the start that he was destined for greatness. Winning 2nd place in the SM Everysing Contest in 2008 paved the way for his entry into SM Entertainment and his introduction as the 7th member of EXO. From his early days with EXO-M, promoting their music in China, to becoming an integral part of the main EXO group, XIUMIN’s dedication and hard work are evident. He flourished even brighter when he joined forces with BAEKHYUN and CHEN to form EXO-CBX. The trio showcased their unique charm and ingenuity through various music releases and performances, captivating fans worldwide.

In 2015, XIUMIN made his acting debut as the lead in the web comedy-drama “Falling for Challenge”. That year, it quickly became the most-watched web drama, garnering over 24 million views in less than a month. His remarkable performance earned him the “Award for SNS Web Drama” at the 4th APAN Star Awards in 2015. XIUMIN also lent his voice to the drama’s official soundtrack, “You Are the One”, marking his first solo song. In the same year, he also made his musical theatre debut portraying Aquila in the SM Entertainment musical “School OZ”. Later, in 2016, XIUMIN took his talents to the big screen with his debut in the satire adventure comedy film “Seondal: The Man Who Sells The River”.

XIUMIN didn’t stop there. He finally made his solo debut in September 2022 with his first EP, “Brand New,” which was lauded for its nostalgic ‘90s sonic euphoria. The album peaked at #26 on the Circle Download Chart. In recognition of his exceptional talent, XIUMIN won the “Best Male Solo Singer” award at the 2023 Korea First Brand Awards. Recently, he has made his most-awaited comeback with his sophomore EP “Interview X” featuring six tracks: “Can’t Help Myself”, “Make You Lalala”, “Switch Off”, “Lost Paradise”, “Love is U”, and the title track “WHEE!”. Immediately after its release, “WHEE!” reached #1 on iTunes Top Songs Charts in at least fourteen different regions and surpassed 10 million views on its music video within just 10 days. Meanwhile, “Interview X” claimed the #1 spot on iTunes Top Albums charts in at least seven different regions. Now, XIUMIN is returning to the stage with his first-ever fan concert, the 2025 XIUMIN FAN CONCERT < X TIMES ( ) >. The tour kicks off on his sold-out show in Seoul on March 22, 2025.

Taeyeon Celebrates a Decade of Music with an Unforgettable Night in Manila

by Philippine KPOP Convention April 3, 2025
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

Kim Taeyeon made her entrance standing tall at the Mall Of Asia Arena, looking like a queen wearing her gorgeous white dress. She set the tone for the night honoring her 10th year anniversary as a solo artist opening the concert with “Fabulous.” Knowing that they were going to see a performance that will never be forgotten, the crowd went wild and screamed their energy.

“The Tense” tour wasn’t merely a concert— it was a celebration of Taeyeon’s growth as an artist. Through the interpreter, “Its the 10th year of my debut as a solo this year. That’s why our show tonight, I actually had it directed towards this 10th year anniversary theme, so it really means a lot to me.” She gave her fans a 25 song setlist, which included songs from her Letter to Myself EP and her debut single titled “I.”

Throughout the night, she showed her vocal power and the crowd was stunned by her high notes as she performed her flawless renditions of “Timelapse” and “My Tragedy.” She also surprised her fans with her whistle note in “Blur” proving why she is considered as one of the top vocalists in KPOP. She was more than a songer of high notes, she also performed her songs “Melt Away,” and “What Do I Call You,” and “Letter To Myself,” showing her angry pop-rock vibes. Her flexibility as an artist was definitely highlighted when “Weekend” and “Why” had the entire arena singing.

The concert was equally beautiful with its stunning stage effects complementing the performances, a huge cutain drop, floating bubbles and fire— it defnitely made the concert a night to treasure forever. Among these, she performed “My Tragedy” which earned fans crying out “Grabe!” admiringly as they watch her.

The night was made even more merorable by Taeyeon’s relationship with her Filo fans, not just with music. Filo fans shouted “Beshie!” with excitement— this was a nickname she adopted during her previous visits in the country. She then recalled it clarifying “Beshie?,” and then she said “I remember.” Adding “In my memory, this is actually one of the places with the best cheers.”

The crowd went up showing their lightsticks, jumping in unison during the performances of popular songs like “Weekend,” “Stress,” and “Why” and not everyone missed the fan’s loud applause. The cheers grew so loud that she said “I guess you have louder voices compared to me.”

Before ending her concert with the most awaited song “UR” Taeyeon showed her gratitude to her Filo SONEs, “Its so touching. Thank you so much. I really love all these messages,” and her saying “Beshie tayo forever.” She exited the stage leaving her fans with an unforgettable night. Surely, Filo SONEs won’t forget the night that was full of love.
