The Light Shines Bright in Manila as Taeyang Concludes his World Tour Finale

by Philippine KPOP Convention March 2, 2025
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

The ever known KPOP royalty, Taeyang of BIGBANG, had his visit to the Philippines that no fan would dare to miss for his final stop for “The Light Year” world tour. Filipino VIPs crowded the SM Mall of Asia Arena proudly waving their lightsticks. This incredible show was made possible by KARPOS last February 22, an unforgettable night for his fans. The crowd had full energy despite the one-hour delay but the excitement increased as Taeyang’g music videos played on the LED displays, which the fand cheered, sang along, and let out their screams.

The fans screamed in excitement the moment the lights dimmed and the stage was filled with celestial displays. When Taeyang came out the stage to perform “Prayer,” he pulled everyone into his performance right away. Greeting his Filipino fans with “Na-miss ko kayo” which made the fans kilig and scream showing that they have been waiting for this moment to happen since his comeback last 2017. “I want you all to give it your all since tonight is the last night of “The Light Year” tour!, he added.

Fans of second and third generation music were connected together as Taeyang effortlessly blended these eras. The whole crowd was singing along with his popular songs like his collaboration with JIMIN of BTS with the song “VIBE.” He also performed his songs “1 AM,” “Stay With Me,” “Make Love,” “Inspiration,” and “Only Look At Me.” One of the most memorable was when he sang “Wedding Dress” which the Filipinos love very much. It continued with BIGBANG’s ballad songs like “Blue,” “If You,” “Loser,” and “I Need A Girl,” which had G-Dragon’s part.

Taeyang surprised his Filipino fans with his perfect performance of TJ Monterde’s “Palagi.” Because of his perfect pronounciation, fans requested for him to sing it again which he did.

Just as his concert were getting to the climax, Taeyang upped the crowd with the legendary anthems of BIGBANG. Fans jumped and screamed along to “BANG BANG BANG,” “FANTASTIC BABY,” and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY,” turning the arena into a celebration. The nostalgia of seeing these timeless songs being performed live made fans moved to tears. A must-hear for every Taeyang concert is his trademark song “Eyes, Nose, Lips,” which the crowd joined in in chorus and he sang it in acapella several times. The night went on forever as he kept adding songs to encore. The “The Light Year” world tour came to an end when he performed “Seed.”

During his sentimental speech, fans screamed ‘Yeorobun’ and said “You know I’m talking with a serious feeling and you guys want ‘Yeorobun’ right now, that’s so awkward” which earned laughs from fans. And as the person that he is, he never forgot to thank his Filipino fans and all the staff before he took his final bow exiting the stage.

This event was presented by KARPOS.
