SBS Super Concert 2019

by Philippine KPOP Convention March 28, 2020
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

SBS Super Concert 2019 took place in Gwangju World Cup Stadium on April 28, 2019. It is in relation to Gwangju 2019 FINA World Championship, an event where the best swimmers in from different countries meet and compete. The concert line-up ranged from big names to super rookies namely BTS, TWICE, Hong Jin Young, Momoland, NFlying, IZ*ONE, TXT, The Boyz, Nature and Cherry Bullet.

There were also the booths by KTO, Gwangju City, Medi-Well Gwangju, CNUDH, KAHP, Kwangju Christian Hospital, La Belle, Chungcheon Korean Hospital, JoSeon Unuversity Hospital and Kocca. Each booth has their own way of inviting participants to check out what they have to offer – fun games and activities with amazing prizes that await foreigners who will get their event passports stamped.

SBS Super Concert 2019 is a collaboration between Koreans and foreign individuals from around the world to promote tourism in the beautiful province of Gwangju. The concert experience may have been short, but it sparked so much memories for everyone.

Three-member girl group CAMILLA opened the show with their song ‘Red Lips’ followed by the warm speeches and welcoming remarks by the Mayor of Gwangju and the KTO President. The program proper started with CHERRY BULLET who performed their song “QNA” through energetic dance moves and cool choreography; NATURE staged ‘Some’ and ‘Dream About U’ in their pinkish and sparkly dresses; THE BOYZ performed their comeback song ‘Bloom Bloom’ with unique stunts and powerful choreography, followed by the rookies that started off with IZ*ONE in their sweet but powerful voice singing ‘Violetá’ and TXT who showed the crowd the promotional tracks of their debut album, ‘Crown’ and ‘Cat & Dog’. There was a time to just chill and enjoy NFLYING’s performance with their new songs, ‘Spring Memories’ and ‘Rooftop.’ MOMOLAND also hit the floor with ‘I’m So Hot’ and their hit single, ‘Boom Boom’, that made the audience dance on their seats.

The mood was changed when Trot singer HONG JIN YOUNG showcased an EDM remix of her songs, ‘Love Battery’ and ‘Tonight.’ Next, nine amazing girls conquered the stage and it’s TWICE. They sang their new single, ‘Fancy.’ along with ‘Yes Or Yes’ and ‘Dance the Night Away,’ which hyped up the crowd – majority of which are gentlemen. Finally, the group that most of the concertgoers looked forward to, BTS, conquered the stage with their record-breaking song, ‘Boy With Luv.’ They also performed DNA, as well as one of the tracks from their latest mini album, Map of the Soul: PERSONA, entitled ‘Make It Right’ which made the fans sway their way with the jazzy feel. BTS ended their stage with power through ‘Idol’.

Each performer hyped up their fans by waving at them and speaking in different languages to acknowledge all everyone who came a long way to be able to attend the show. They also played a game called Dance Challenge wherein the idols have to act cute, sexy or crazy while dancing. Time really passed by quickly while you’re enjoying every bit of the concert experience but it engraved wonderful memories at the end of the day.

Our gratitude goes to KTO, City of Gwangju, SBS and all the sponsors who made the gathering of these well-known idols, possible to be experienced by fans across many borders. We will be looking forward to the success of Gwangju 2019 FINA World Championships.

FIGHTING! #LoveKorea #VisitKorea

written by Philippine KPOP Convention

April 27, 2019 – Bang Chan, Woojin, Changbin, Han, Lee Know, Seungmin, Hyunjin, Felix, and I.N. rocked the stage of Araneta Coliseum with their explosive performancesfor their Unveil Tour “I am…” in Manila. Loud screams and cheers can be heard when Stray Kids opened their concert with their pre-debut song “Hellevator”.

They also performed “Grr”, “NOT!” and “Awaken,” “Mirror,” “District 9,” “WHO?”, and more of their hit songs.

Filipino Stays (the name of the fandom) also gave Stray Kids a surprise fan project wherein a VCR was played. The VCR was an animated story (made by the fans) of how the Stray Kids started until winning awards now. After the video, everyone started to raise their banners with the words written, “Promise to Stand by Your Side.”

Stray Kids left some heartfelt messages to their Filipino Stays and how happy they are for all the things they experienced that night.

Bang Chan, the leader of the group, also gave his sincerest condolences to those who were affected by the earthquake which happened in the Philippines, recently.

Stray Kids made sure that their fans enjoyed the night and promised that they will be back soon. They ended the Manila leg of their concert with a happy and thankful heart.

Thank you so much Pulp Live World for the media invite. #UNVEILTOURinMANILA #StrayKidsinManila

DEANTRBLxSAAY in Manila

by Philippine KPOP Convention March 27, 2020
written by Philippine KPOP Convention

DEANTRBLxSAAY in Manila – an intimate & powerful night The New Frontier Theatre was jam-packed with Filipino Rebels on a Saturday night for not just another R&B concert with DEAN, but a celebratory gig for the singer-songwriter’s 26th year of youth and passion, together with SAAY, who had also made her name in the Korean R&B scene.

When the lights turned off, the DJ started playing a mix of the first artist’s songs as an introduction to her fierce stages. It’s SAAY, the leader of the former idol group EvoL in 2012, who is now an acknowledged R&B singer under Universal Music Korea. Everyone fell in love when she started to sing to her tracks from the 2ND MIXTAPE [THE HORIZON] particularly Vodka & Lemon Shot and Quiet Down. She also slayed it with her swag and sexy moves during RUN, and Love Drop which she introduced through singing a beautiful rendition of Michael Buble’s Love in acapella. She reached out to the fans as she sat down at the edge of the stage while she sings to the washed-out strings and locked-groove loops of Fallin’ , followed by her notable dance track ft. Crush, Sweaty. Of course, one of the most favorite Korean R&B songs of 2017 shall not be missed – Circle.

For the final song, she gave us the honor to be the first live listeners of her third single that was released early this year, Cold View that ironically brought warmth to the whole venue. She remarked that the set list was changed just for this concert, moving the hearts of the fans who enjoyed her all-out performances. Encore became her final stage as she paved the way for the man that everyone’s waiting for. The deanfluenza can be easily felt as soon as the star of the night’s voice was heard, informing everyone that he’s still recovering from a cold he caught 3 days ago but will still do his best to perform for his fans.

DEAN entered the stage after a bit of an introductory mix by the DJ while he sings to the groovy ‘Put my hands on you’ followed by Fanxy Chil that definitely turned the crowd up as they respond ‘yeah yeah yeah yeah’. With a mic stand, he showed all rebels the ‘love’ through his sexy, soothing voice. When he stopped to greet, the fans sng Happy Birhday which turned ‘instagram’ to a touching performance, then smoothly transitioned to he next songs including ’21’.The theater formed a gray ocean through the flashlight that the phone emits as DEAN cued for the D(Half Moon) atmosphere then showered water while the Rebels party over ‘I’m not Sorry’. Sadly, it’s time for him to go, but before tha, his ‘Bermuda Triangle’ burned the stage with non-stop screams and fans singing along. Indeed, the show is the greatest present DEAN gave his fans and vice versa – a memorable birthday for this iconic R&B artist who reached another milestone in his life.
